Been playing around a bit more with the D700 and am amazed at how much detail I can get from highlights and shadows out of just one exposure. With the D200 I normally bracketed high dynamic range shots and then used Photomatix to create HDR's, but with the D700 it doesn't look like I'll need to nearly as much. I'll probably still bracket some shots for a while out of habit, of course, but so far the 'middle' shot of the bracket on the D700 has been good. Here's a couple of images from the same series of shots: one a 5 shot HDR and the other the middle exposure with a little shadow and highlight adjustment.
