On the way from Blanding to the Grand Canyon I spent the night camping at Navajo National Monument. It is a neat place with a well preserved Anasazi settlment in an Alcove. They conduct tours down into the ruins (a 5 mile 5 hour hike) but I didn't have enough time and had to settle for some pictures from the overlook high above. This is a place I want to revisit and the tour is also on my list.
I then went on to the Grand Canyon with a brief stop at Goosnecks to try for some more panorama shots.
Grand Canyon is very crowded around Canyon Village and parking is a problem at the nearby overlooks, but once you get away a little bit it isn't so bad. Even so, it is a difficult place to photograph since everything is so vast and there are only a couple of hours of good light in the morning and again in the evening. I had planned on staying two nights but decide this morning to start heading mome and drove to Gallup for the night with a brief stop at the Meteor Crater on the way.
Here are some random shots from Navajo National Monument and the Grand Canyon. I have a lot more to go through, so hopefully I can generate a few decent images. I still have about 2 1/2 days of driving before I get home and can really start to go through all the pictures (almost 5,000 taken on the trip so far).
