Had an intersting evening in Gallup. I stopped at the Comfort Inn there, got checked in, showered, did Internet stuff and then got ready for bed to read a while. The fire alarm went off and, since I was right off the lobby, I could hear the desk clerk telling everyone it was just a false alarm. After about 30 minutes and more sounds of confusion from the clerk and guests in the lobby I decided to get dressed and take all my stuff out to the FJ in case I needed to get out fast if there was a real emergency.

As I walked around back to where I was parked I could see the people in the room 2 doors down from me climbing out their broken window and I asked them if there was a fire in there. They said someone had called them and told them there was a gas leak and instructed them to put towels to block the space under the door, climb up and manually set off the sprinkler, and then break out their window and evacuate. Needless to say there was no gas leak.

After 45 minutes the clerk still hadn't been able to find anyone to tell her how to shut off the alarm and the fire department hadn't arrived. The hallway was full of water and it was running down towards my romm so I decided to leave and find another place down the street. Just as I left the fire department finally did arrive and after I got checked into the MicroTel a couple of doors down the street I saw an ambulance go past, presumably to tend to the cuts the people got when the broke and climbed out their window.

I hope they catch the prankster that caused this and sue their ass off - the hotel property alone had to have sustained extensive damages not to mention PO'd guests.

At any rate, I drove from Gallup to El Reno, OK today for another night at another Comfort Inn. Tomorrow I'll see if I can make it all the way home, although it's still a long drive.

This is a Grand Canyon pano that I took yesterday morning and put together this evening.
